The President of the Organisation for Technology Advancement of Cold Chain in West Africa (OTACCWA), Mr. Alex Isong, has been appointed to the World Agriculture Forum (WAF) Council, marking a significant recognition of his efforts in transforming agriculture through cold-chain infrastructure in the region.
OTACCWA announced the appointment in a statement issued to journalists on Wednesday in Lagos.
Established to drive the development of cold chain systems across Nigeria and West Africa, OTACCWA plays a vital role in curbing post-harvest losses and improving food security.
“We are proud to announce that Mr. Alexander Isong, President of OTACCWA, has been officially appointed to the World Agriculture Forum Council,” the statement read.
The World Agriculture Forum, headquartered in the Netherlands, is a global platform modeled after the World Economic Forum. It brings together world leaders — including policymakers, CEOs, experts, and development institutions — to address critical issues in food security, sustainable agriculture, agri-tech innovation, policy-making, and international trade.
Isong’s appointment, the statement noted, is in recognition of his “visionary leadership in strengthening cold chain infrastructure and agricultural development across West Africa.”
His inclusion in the Council is expected to “further amplify Africa’s voice in global agricultural discourse and policy-making.”
The organisation reaffirmed Isong’s commitment to advancing cold-chain development and reducing post-harvest losses throughout Nigeria and Africa.
“As a Council Member, he will contribute to shaping the Forum’s agenda, promoting international cooperation, and championing strategic investments to build a more sustainable and resilient agricultural future for all,” OTACCWA stated.
