President Bola Tinubu has extended his warm congratulations to Dr. Akinwumi Adesina, President of the African Development Bank (AfDB), for being honored with the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo Prize for Leadership.

According to a statement released today by Chief Ajuri Ngelale, the Special Adviser to the President, Dr. Adesina’s recognition places him alongside esteemed figures such as Nigeria’s Nobel Laureate, Professor Wole Soyinka, former South African President Thabo Mbeki, and distinguished lawyer-educationist Chief Afe Babalola.

Dr. Adesina’s visionary efforts, President Tinubu asserted, have revolutionized agriculture in Africa in a way to help ensure food security.

He added that his groundbreaking initiatives transformed Nigeria’s agricultural value chains during his tenure as Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development.

Highlighting Dr. Adesina’s unassailable integrity and remarkable leadership in advancing agricultural development, President Tinubu reminisced on the global acclaim bestowed upon the AfDB President, including the prestigious World Food Prize in 2017.

Expressing best wishes for Dr. Adesina’s continued success at the AfDB and his enduring commitment to Africa’s progress, President Tinubu underscored the importance of his service to the continent and humanity as a whole.
