Nigeria and Israel are set to take their bilateral relations to the next level with the proposed establishment of a joint commission that will help promote food security in the country.
This development was announced during a meeting between Nigeria’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Bianca Ojukwu, and Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria, Michael Freeman.
According to Ambassador Ojukwu, “Israel is reputable in areas of security and counter-terrorism. We look forward to taking it beyond bilateral relations.”
She expressed Nigeria’s interest in benefiting from Israel’s technology, particularly in food security, and highlighted the potential for collaboration in areas like agriculture, health, education, and film production.
The joint commission aims to drive and assess bilateral relations between the two countries, with a focus on trade, security, and technology transfer.
Ambassador Freeman noted that Israel is eager to deepen trade with Nigeria and explore opportunities for collaboration in areas like agriculture, water management, education, and health.
The proposed joint commission is expected to fast-track agreements in these areas and more, paving the way for a stronger, more dynamic partnership between Nigeria and Israel.
