The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, arrived in Italy on Wednesday morning to explore partnerships in agriculture, vocational education, and strategic development.

According to a statement from his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, Wike landed in Milan at approximately 4:30 a.m. and was welcomed by Nigeria’s Charge d’Affairs in Italy, Ambassador Mustapha Mohammed.

During his visit, Wike is scheduled to engage in several discussions, including a meeting on Thursday with Attilio Fontana, President of the Lombardy Region, along with key agricultural investors.

The meeting is particularly significant due to Lombardy’s economic influence, being home to nearly 10 million people. It is the second most populous region in the European Union (EU) and holds the second-highest GDP within the EU.

Wike’s discussions with Fontana will focus on fostering collaborations and identifying opportunities for development in agriculture, vocational education, and strategic partnerships between the FCT and the Lombardy Region.

Wike is also set to engage with agribusiness investors and vocational training experts to explore new opportunities, according to his spokesperson.

Accompanying the minister on this trip are the FCT Mandate Secretary for Education, Dr. Danlami Hayyo, and the Mandate Secretary for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mr. Lawan Geidam.

Other members of his delegation include Dr. Udo Atang, Senior Special Assistant on Administration, and Mr. Benedict Daudu, Senior Special Assistant on Legal and Multilateral Cooperation.
