In line with the plans of the Osun state government for agricultural development, an arm of the state government, Osun Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (O’RAAMP) has revealed plans to construct three agro logistics centres for the purpose of storing and processing agricultural produce coming from various regions within the state.
Mr. Rasaq Okediya, the O’RAAMP Project Coordinator, shared this development during a radio program, ‘Imole Ayo,’ broadcasted in Osogbo on Saturday.
He noted that the agency performed excellently under Rural Access Mobility Project-2, which made Osun and 18 other states selected among the participating states in the next phase of the project.
Okediya detailed the agency’s future initiatives, which include the upgrading and maintenance of rural roads. According to him, “O’RAAMP will, among other things, upgrade some kilometres of rural roads, while spot improvement would be done on rural roads, with routine maintenance and regular rehabilitations.
“The newly added component – agricultural marketing would focus on the construction of agro logistics centres in the three senatorial districts using the multi-dimensional indicators as laid down by donor partners.”
Expressing gratitude to the state government for facilitating an enabling environment, Okediya appealed to host communities where the agro-logistics centres will be established, urging cooperation with O’RAAMP staff during the project’s implementation.”
