The Abia Livelihood Improvement Family Enterprise, Niger Delta (LIFE-ND), has breathed new life into the Monthly Technology Review Meeting (MTRM) for the state’s Agricultural Development Programme (ADP).
The development was made known recently at a meeting held at the National Roots Crops Research Institute Umudike (NRCRI). The MTRM served as a forum where stakeholders from NRCRI and ADP exchanged insights and ideas on contemporary agronomy practices.
At the meeting, researchers and resource persons from NRCRI unveiled their latest findings and research in agronomy. Anthony Nwaobilor, the rural institution, youth, and gender officer for LIFE-ND, clarified that the project orchestrated the meeting to fortify its activities. He underscored the pivotal role of ADP’s extension agents in various communities and stressed the significance of the MTRM in arming ADP with cutting-edge practices to impart to farmers.
Expressing gratitude, Abia ADP program manager Chukwudi Onuoha thanked LIFE-ND for revitalizing the meeting and urged for sustained support for the monthly review.
Mr. Onuoha reiterated the necessity of the monthly review, citing the reservoir of valuable findings in farm practices stored by the research institute, which could be shared through the MTRM.
Chiedozie Egesi, the executive director of NRCRI, conveyed his excitement about the meeting, eagerly anticipated at the beginning of the year. He highlighted how the gathering facilitated interactions between researchers and ADP officers.
However, the collaboration between the International Fund for Agricultural Development and the federal government supports LIFE-ND in its mission to enhance food security in the Niger Delta.
