Kano Govt to Partner Canada on Agricultural Development, Others

The Kano State Government has announced its commitment to collaborating with Canada across various sectors, including healthcare, education, and agriculture, for the benefit of both Kano state and Canada.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf made this known during a meeting with Canadian Ambassador to Nigeria, James Christoff, at the Government House in Kano on Tuesday.

Governor Yusuf underscored the positive relationship between Kano and Canada in the agricultural field and expressed the state’s eagerness to receive support in critical areas such as climate change adaptation and modern irrigation techniques. 

Additionally, he emphasized the importance of reviving a scholarship program for indigenes of Kano State, highlighting the significance of education in enhancing agricultural development.

Earlier, the Canadian Ambassador had visited the governor to discuss with him and other stakeholders regarding development issues that could enhance collaboration between Canada and Kano. 

Ambassador Christoff noted that part of his engagements in Kano was to assess a Canadian government project in the state worth 15.7 million dollars on women empowerment in the agricultural sector.
