Supreme ruler of the Zaar-Sayawa ethnic group, Gungzaar-select Air Commodore Ishaku Komo (retd), has issued a stern warning to farmers to exercise caution in the sale of their harvested crops.

Speaking at the annual Lemb Zaar cultural festival held over the weekend, Komo expressed gratitude for the bountiful harvest but cautioned against hasty decisions that could lead to food shortages.

“We prayed for rain, and God answered our prayers. Now we have a good harvest. But let’s be wise. Don’t sell your crops unnecessarily. Use them wisely, as selling could bring hunger to our land,” he advised.

The festival, originally scheduled for November 2nd, faced a brief hiccup due to a court order. However, hundreds of residents defied the injunction and converged on the venue to celebrate the annual harvest.

Despite initial concerns about potential violence, the event was marked by peace and harmony.

Komo attributed this to the trust his people place in God and their commitment to peaceful coexistence.

“We pray for more peace in Zaarland, Bauchi State, and Nigeria as a whole,” he said.

Komo extended his gratitude to the Bauchi State Police Command for providing adequate security and pledged his loyalty to the state government.

He stressed the need for unity among his subjects and called for efforts to bridge any divisions within the community.

The traditional leader also highlighted the significance of the Lemb Zaar festival, which honors ancestors and marks the beginning of the harvest season.

He expressed disappointment over attempts to hinder the celebration but thanked God for allowing it to proceed.

Komo concluded by urging the government to prioritize the economic, social, and political development of Zaarland, recognizing its potential to contribute to the overall growth of Bauchi State and Nigeria.
