President Bola Tinubu reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to implement climate-smart agricultural practices, reduce environmental impacts, and bolster food security.
He emphasized Nigeria’s responsibility to lead a just energy transition and sustainable development in Africa.
Speaking at the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, Tinubu stressed the need for international cooperation to achieve sustainable development and mitigate climate change impacts.
“To succeed, we must innovate, collaborate and decide decisively to collaborate as a global community,” he said.
Tinubu highlighted Nigeria’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions, promote environmental sustainability, and advance economic growth.
“We have embraced the vision of sustainability and that alliance of global aspiration while addressing the local realities. Our efforts are anchored on three pillars: energy transition, climate resilience, and sustainable development,” he said.
The President noted that Nigeria is diversifying its energy sources, reducing reliance on fossil fuels, and developing infrastructure for compressed natural gas and electric vehicles.
He also emphasized the importance of technological innovation in advancing sustainable development, citing Nigeria’s growing adoption of new technologies in clean energy, water conservation, and waste management.
Tinubu urged the international community to strengthen cooperation to meet the Sustainable Development Goals and lessen the impact of climate change.
He expressed gratitude to the President of the United Arab Emirates for the invitation to Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week, which brought together world leaders to exchange views on addressing global challenges.
