Fidelity Bank Distributes Food Packs in Nasarawa

by AgroNigeria

As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, Fidelity Bank Plc, in partnership with ABBASID Charity Foundation, has distributed food packs to women, widows, children, and vulnerable individuals in Keffi, Nasarawa State.

During the distribution event, tagged “Fidelity Food Bank Initiative,” Meksley Nwagboh, Divisional Head of Brand and Communication at Fidelity Bank, reiterated the bank’s commitment to assisting communities across Nigeria through its initiative.

Nwagboh disclosed that since the launch of the Fidelity Food Bank initiative in April 2023, over 100,000 food packs have been distributed across more than 100 communities nationwide.

“This is borne out of the premium we place on the wellbeing of our host communities as well as our commitment to support the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals 1, 2, and 3, which speak to Poverty eradication, Zero Hunger, and Good Health and Well-being respectively,” she remarked.

Hajia Hauwa Abbas, the Founder of Abbasid Foundation, shared that the food bank initiative commenced when her organization was selected as Fidelity Bank’s partner in the North.

She noted that several states were already benefiting from the program, including Jigawa, Zamfara, Zaria, Kebbi, Bauchi, Kano, and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

Abbas expressed satisfaction with Fidelity Bank’s involvement, noting that the bank played a dual role of business engagement and community support.

“I am very pleased with Fidelity Bank because, as much as they are doing business with us in our community, they are also giving back to us, especially women,” she added.

Senator Wadada Ahmed, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, leveraged the Fidelity Food Bank outreach to provide additional food items to residents of the community.

Represented by his wife, Zainab Wadada-Ahmed, Senator Ahmed stated that this initiative is part of his ongoing efforts to support constituents, especially orphans and widows. “We are here today to give back to our people, considering the hardship in the country,” he said.

“This is the little that we can do. I appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to try and collaborate to see how we can help the people who do not have.”

One of the beneficiaries, Mrs. Susan Nyikwagh expressed gratitude towards the bank and its partners and encouraged other individuals and organizations with means to emulate the bank’s example and support vulnerable members of society.
