In a bid to instill a love for farming in school children, the First Lady of Gombe State, Hajiya Dr. Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya, has inaugurated 50 students from primary and secondary schools across the state into the Young Farmers Club.
This initiative aligns with the vision of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, to promote modern farming techniques and contribute to the country’s food sufficiency and economic diversification.
During the induction ceremony, Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya emphasized the crucial role agriculture plays in Nigeria’s economy, describing it as the “backbone of sustenance for decades.”
She praised Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her commitment to improving the lives of Nigerian families through agricultural programs under the Renewed Hope Initiative.
“We have a lot to show to our children, and I believe the time is now. There is a need to catch them young and have them do right. Once the children get it, it would be easy to bring it home.
“With this initiative, the First Lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, is not only planting seeds in the soil but also sowing seeds of hope, resilience, and economic prosperity of our nation,” Hajiya Asma’u Inuwa Yahaya said.
The Commissioner for Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Cooperatives, Dr. Barnabas Malle, noted that the initiative aims to reshape students’ perspectives on farming, highlighting it as a business opportunity and an essential investment for national food security.
