Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has assured Nigerians that governors are willing to support President Bola Tinubu’s efforts to crash food prices and bring relief to citizens.
This commitment was made after a meeting with President Tinubu, Vice President Kashim Shettima, other governors, and National Assembly leaders at the President’s Ikoyi residence in Lagos.
According to Okpebholo, “I have just had a meeting with the President of the Federal Republic, Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the Vice President, HE Kashim Shettima, the leadership of the National Assembly, and other fellow Governors. The topmost of our discussions were the challenges before us and how to tackle them.”
He praised President Tinubu’s passion for the welfare of Nigerians and his commitment to the country’s development.
“President Tinubu is passionate about the welfare of Nigerians and the development of our dear country. Hearing him articulate his plans and mission for the new year and charging us to be committed to governance was refreshing,” he said.
Okpebholo acknowledged the current food crisis and assured Nigerians that governors are working closely with President Tinubu to ensure food security.
He emphasized that agricultural programs aimed at reducing food prices are already being implemented by various governors.
“It is clear that he understands the current challenges facing our people and is in touch with them and feels what the ordinary Nigerian feels”.
