The Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta (ABCOAD), Kano State, has received the accreditation team from the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) to evaluate fourteen academic programs, including Agricultural Technology among others.

The programs under review include:

National Diploma (ND): Animal Health and Production Technology, Agricultural Technology, Forestry Technology, Food Technology, and Science Laboratory Technology.

Others are Higher National Diploma (HND): Animal Production Technology, Animal Health Technology, Crop Production Technology, Forestry Technology, Soil Science and Land Resources Technology, Pest Management Technology, Agribusiness Management, Software and Web Development, and Institutional Administration.

In a plenary session with 25 NBTE resource persons, Prof. M.A. Wailare, the college’s provost, stressed the value of accreditation as a peer-review process that raises the standard of research and instruction.

“At Audu Bako College of Agriculture, Dambatta, we recognize accreditation as a key quality assurance initiative of the NBTE. That is why we take this process very seriously,” Prof. Wailare said.

Prof. Wailare expressed gratitude to the Kano State Government, led by His Excellency Engr. Abba Kabir Yusuf, for funding the accreditation process. He noted that this support aligns with the administration’s strong commitment to education, as seen in its allocation of 31% of the total state budget to education, surpassing the UNESCO recommendation.

“Through unwavering commitment, hard work, and the relentless efforts of our staff, we successfully met the preparation deadline,” he added.

According to the Director of Academic Planning, Dr. Sani Haruna, the NBTE accreditation process is crucial in ensuring that the college’s programs meet established quality standards.

“This visit assures students that the education they receive will be recognized by employers and other institutions. The success of the exercise is largely due to the state government’s unwavering support for quality education. Finally, the college management wishes the accreditation team a safe journey back to their respective destinations,” Dr. Haruna quoted as saying.

The NBTE accreditation team leader, Dr. Rufai Ibrahim Bichi, commended ABCOAD’s management for consistently ensuring that their courses meet accreditation standards.

“This visit focuses on assessing both human and material resources, facilitating knowledge transfer between resource persons and the college staff, and offering recommendations where necessary.” Dr. Bichi remarked.

During the exit briefing, the Director of Monotechnic Programs at NBTE, Mallam Ismail Tanko, stated that the team evaluated multiple aspects of the institution, including qualifications, curriculum, infrastructure, teaching resources, student support services, and overall institutional management.

He assured that the outcome of the accreditation exercise would be released soon and extended his gratitude to Prof. Wailare and the ABCOAD management for their hospitality and cooperation throughout the process.
