President Bola Tinubu has announced that Nigeria will transform the challenges posed by climate change into economic transformation and sustainable development.
He made this statement at a product launch by Netzence Sustainability Limited, a sustainability technology and management company.
Tinubu, represented by Minister of Science, Technology and Innovation, Uche Nnaji, said: “Nigeria, with others, is witnessing devastating impacts of climate change… These threaten the foundation of our development and well-being of our people. Yet, in this challenge lies the opportunity to reshape our economy, embrace sustainable development, and position Nigeria as a leader in the global fight against climate change.”
He emphasized Nigeria’s commitment to achieving net zero emissions by 2060, stating: “This is not just a target; it is a commitment to protect our environment, and drive economic growth.”
Tinubu commended Netzence for taking the lead in this noble journey and assured collaboration with the Federal Government to pioneer solutions to accelerate Nigeria’s path to Net Zero.
Dr. Sadiq Sani, Founder and CEO of Netzence, introduced CloseCarbon, a Carbon Footprint tracking System, which will assist the government in achieving emission reduction targets and promote sustainable practices.
The event was attended by notable figures, including former Niger State Governor, Abubakar Bello, and representatives from various organizations.
