Speaking during a visit by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Dr. Ibrahim Abubakar Kana, on Friday, Prof. Anosike highlighted NiMet’s close collaboration with key institutions such as the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Environment, the Ministry of Blue Economy, and other government agencies that rely on its forecasts for efficient operations.
Prof. Anosike provided an overview of the agency’s functions, its engagement with the World Meteorological Organization (WMO), and his role as Nigeria’s permanent representative to the WMO.
He emphasized NiMet’s critical role in supporting socio-economic development across various sectors.
In response, Dr. Kana commended NiMet’s contributions and praised the leadership of Prof. Anosike, alongside the management and staff, for their dedication.
He assured the agency of continued support, promising to work with the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo SAN, to secure more government backing for NiMet.
“I value the existing partnerships between NiMet and other ministries and agencies. I encourage even stronger collaborations among agency heads, and I will ensure NiMet gets the support it needs,” Dr. Kana stated.
