WACOT Limited and the Edo State Government have renewed their fertiliser production partnership, with a focus on sustaining domestic manufacturing and improving farmers’ access to crop-specific fertiliser blends.
The deal covers the Edo State Fertiliser and Chemical Company Limited, where WACOT has operated under the partnership since 2017. The facility produces specialised fertiliser blends for different soil and crop requirements.
WACOT’s Director of Corporate Affairs at Tropical General Investments Group, Sadiq Kassim, said the plant serves a strategic role in the country’s fertiliser industry, with capacity to produce tailored blends for the South-South and North-East regions.
He noted that security challenges in the North-East had made establishing fertiliser production facilities there difficult, further underscoring the value of existing local capacity.
WACOT Managing Director, Naveen Chaurasia, said the partnership had shown how collaboration between government and private businesses could revive dormant industrial assets and support agricultural development.
Edo State Commissioner for Business, Trade and Investment, Omoh Anabor, said the renewed agreement would support industrial growth, attract investment and create jobs while improving farmers’ access to agricultural inputs.
WACOT said it would continue working with the state government and industry stakeholders to sustain local fertiliser production and support farmers.
