Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has extended an invitation to Diaspora investors, particularly Nigerians and their Canadian partners, to join an agricultural revolution in Niger State.

The invitation was made on the sidelines of the recently concluded Canada-Nigeria Business Summit.

Governor Bago highlighted Niger State’s readiness to establish livestock markets and its ongoing partnership with the Brazilian government on a four-component sugar plantation agriculture project.

In a statement released by the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NiDCOM), Governor Bago announced additional incentives for Diaspora investors, including a 100-hectare land grant for Nollywood, along with offers of land and farm equipment for agricultural ventures.

He also proposed converting the iconic Zuma Rock Hotel into a hospital in partnership with Nigerian-Canadian medical professionals.

Meanwhile, senator Victor Umeh, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Diaspora, Non-Governmental Organisations, and Civil Societies, pledged the National Assembly’s support for legislative frameworks that encourage Diaspora investment in Nigeria’s development.

Remarking, NiDCOM Chairman, Hon. Abike Dabiri-Erewa, who facilitated the Fireside Chat alongside CEO of Canada Vendors, Maryam Murtala, emphasised the importance of state involvement in Diaspora investment.
