‘Agriculture Only Solution to Nigeria’s Current Economic Challenges’ Says Satomi as Lawmaker Supports 160 Farmers With N140m in Borno

A member of the House of Representatives representing Jere Federal Constituency of Borno State, Ahmed Satomi, has said agriculture is the only solution to Nigeria’s current economic challenges, while disbursing N140 million to 160 farmers for livestock and poultry production.

Speaking at the disbursement ceremony in Maiduguri on Wednesday, Satomi said the initiative aims to alleviate the negative effects of the current economic hardship in the country.

He explained that the beneficiaries were carefully selected from various areas within his constituency. They have all received the necessary training for raising and fattening animals, as well as training in allied agricultural fields and other agricultural value chains.

“Agriculture is the only solution to Nigeria’s current economic challenges,” he emphasized.

The lawmaker further explained that 91 farmers received one million naira each, while the remaining beneficiaries received N500,000 each. These funds will be used to start raising goats and sheep.

Satomi highlighted that the goal is to boost agricultural activities in Jere Federal Constituency. He believes that agriculture remains the most effective way to lift many people out of poverty.

“Today, I’m supporting them with a starting capital after they’ve completed the necessary training. Considering Nigeria’s economic situation, agriculture is the only viable solution for the common man at this time,” Satomi said. “The Governor has made Borno a peaceful place, and through the Satomi Integrated Farm, I’ve done my best to ensure my constituents can return to their agricultural activities.”

In his remarks, Governor Babagana Zulum commended the lawmaker for his initiative and urged the beneficiaries to make the most of this opportunity. He encouraged them to use the funds effectively so they can empower others in the future.
