FG Seeks Farmers’ Empowerment to Meet Global Market Demands

The Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, has emphasized the Federal Government’s commitment to empowering farmers with mechanization not only for technological advancement but also to enhance their skills and knowledge to meet global market demands.

Speaking at a Special Agro Equipment/Agro Expo organized by Eurobase Consult in collaboration with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, the Minister highlighted the importance of strategic planning and investments in agriculture and agribusinesses to diversify the economy.

Represented by Engr. Gagare Nadungu, Director II Agric Business and Marketing at the Ministry, Senator Kyari reiterated that agricultural mechanization is a key objective of the present administration led by President Bola Tinubu.

“The deployment of agricultural mechanization is aimed at empowering farmers with the necessary knowledge, skills, and tools to succeed in their farm businesses and meet global market demand,” stated the Minister.

He further emphasized that embracing technology-driven solutions is crucial for sustainable food security and agro produce export. The event, themed ‘Sustainable Food Security and Agro Produce Export Through Mechanization,’ provided a platform for stakeholders to explore the latest advancements in agricultural machinery, equipment, and technologies.

Meanwhile, the Managing Director of Eurobase Consult, Don Ekesiobi, underscored the importance of mechanization in boosting sustainable agro production and food security. He highlighted the need to embrace technology to address challenges such as climate change, population growth, and resource constraints.

The Agricultural Equipment Exhibition showcased innovations ranging from precision planters to smart irrigation systems, demonstrating the potential to revolutionize farming practices and enhance productivity and efficiency in Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
