The Federal Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investment has confirmed Mr Ademola Adesokan as the substantive president of the National Cashew Association of Nigeria.
According to the confirmation letter conveyed by the ministry and addressed to the chairman of the board of trustees of NCAN, the ministry approved the recognition of Adesokan’s election as the substantive president of the association.
The ministry said the approval followed a consent judgement delivered on November 9, 2019, in suit number FCT/HC/CV/439/2016, which affirmed the NCAN Constitution of 2007, under which the current leadership was elected.
It stated that Mr Adesokan’s tenure took effect from January 20 and would expire on January 19, 2029, after an initial three-year term.
The ministry urged the association’s trustees and members to accord him the necessary recognition and support in discharging his responsibilities.
“You are therefore requested to give him adequate recognition and support in the discharge of this new responsibility,” the letter stated.
Copies of the letter were also sent to the national president of the Federation of Agricultural Commodity Associations of Nigeria and Mr Adesokan.
