The National Agricultural Commodities Project (NACP) has alerted farmers to fake messages requesting payment for upcoming dry season farming operations.
In order to avoid fraud, NACP advised verifying information with relevant bodies.
A statement from NACP’s Chairman/CEO, Dr. John Aderibigbe, and Secretary General, Dr. Austine Maduka, cautioned: “Beware of false claims. Specifically, be wary of messages claiming N3,000 collection from farmers for data digitization and onboarding; data capture from September 15 to October 15; input distribution in November (water pumping machines, fertilizers, seeds, herbicides); and the federal government paying 69% of total cost as palliative.”
NACP initiatives are driven by public-private partnerships, where farmers contribute equity and pay the balance at harvest.
