As the new farming season approaches, the Adamawa State Government is intensifying efforts to equip farmers with the resources needed to enhance food production and agricultural growth.
The State Commissioner for Agriculture, Prof. David Finchiwa Jatau, disclosed this during an assessment meeting held at his office in Yola, the state capital.
He stated that the government has put in place strategic measures to ensure a successful farming season across the state.
According to the commissioner, the state has allocated a substantial number of hectares for cultivation and is working to guarantee the timely distribution of high-quality seeds and fertilizer to farmers.
This intervention, he said, is geared towards boosting crop yields and ensuring food security for the state’s growing population.
Prof. Jatau noted that agriculture remains the backbone of livelihoods in Adamawa, and the government is committed to empowering farmers through input support, land accessibility, and key services such as extension support and credit access.
“The proactive steps we are taking now are essential for maximizing the productivity of our farmers,” he said.
“Our aim is to strengthen food systems, reduce poverty, and position agriculture as a driver of economic development in Adamawa State.”
The commissioner reaffirmed the government’s commitment to inclusive agricultural development and urged stakeholders to collaborate in achieving a productive and resilient farming season.
