The Bauchi state chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) has taken a significant step towards combating climate change by planting 60 trees in Bauchi metropolis.
This initiative is part of the institute’s 60th anniversary celebration and aims to support the state government’s efforts in mitigating the effects of climate change.
According to Rabiu Wada, Chairman of the NIPR Bauchi state chapter, the tree-planting campaign is a crucial step towards promoting afforestation, combating deforestation, and fostering environmental sustainability. The chapter’s 60th anniversary celebration will also feature various activities, including media engagement, road walks, and community clean-up initiatives, such as collecting beverage cans and water sachets.
Wada emphasized the chapter’s commitment to collaborating with grassroots communities to plant more trees and mitigate the effects of climate change. By working together, the NIPR Bauchi state chapter aims to make a lasting impact on the environment and promote a sustainable future for generations to come.
“These initiatives would demonstrate the power of collective action and community engagement in addressing environmental challenges and building greener, healthier communities.
“We have planted 60 trees in Bauchi Metropolis today to mitigate climate change within the community. There are visits to orphanage and correctional centers, award presentations to notable persons among others,” he said.
