Kebbi State Governor, Nasir Idris, has issued a directive to security operatives to arrest anyone found selling or buying government-distributed agricultural inputs meant for farmers.
The governor made this announcement in Bagudo during the launch of free input distribution to farmers, an initiative led by Muhammad Bello Ka’oje, Member of the House of Representatives for Bagudo/Suru Constituency.
Governor Idris emphasized the need for beneficiaries to use the implements to boost agricultural productivity, particularly in irrigation farming.
He warned that the materials must not be sold for monetary gain, urging recipients to use them to cultivate the land and ensure that Kebbi remains a leader in rice production in Nigeria.
The governor further directed security operatives to enforce the order and apprehend violators.
Acknowledging the contributions of Hon. Bello Ka’oje, the governor praised his efforts in delivering the dividends of democracy to his constituency.
Hon. Ka’oje revealed that 9,400 beneficiaries from Bagudo and Suru Local Government Areas had been empowered with agricultural and entrepreneurial support.
He highlighted the distribution of various farming tools and resources, including water pumping machines, improved rice and maize seeds, cartons of sprayers, and animal feed.
Additionally, motorcycles and sewing machines were given out to promote self-reliance among residents.
Governor Idris called on farmers and herders to make full use of the resources provided to enhance agricultural productivity.
He reiterated the state’s commitment to maintaining its economic leadership through strategic investments in agriculture.
