The Barau Initiative for Agricultural Revolution in the Northwest (BIARN) has partnered with the Bank of Agriculture (BOA) to empower 558 young and mid-level farmers through a loan scheme aimed at boosting maize and rice production.
Under the agreement, each beneficiary will receive up to N5 million in funding to cultivate high-yield crops with strong profit potential.
The initiative, led by Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin, seeks to create a new generation of successful agripreneurs while strengthening food security.
Speaking at the signing ceremony at the National Assembly, Senator Jibrin emphasized that the program is designed to turn unemployed graduates into agricultural millionaires.
“This initiative is not just about food production; it is about creating wealth for young Nigerians. We are providing them with the resources to succeed in agriculture,” he said.
The event was attended by BOA Managing Director Alwan Hassan and the BIARN team led by Prof. Bashir Fagge. BOA pledged full support for the program, assuring that the funds would be well-managed and effectively disbursed.
Senator Jibrin also commended President Bola Tinubu for increasing BOA’s capital base by N1.5 trillion, describing it as a major step toward revitalizing Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
